SERVICES FOR AUTHORS

Services for Authors

Whether you're a new author or working on your seventh novel, every writer can use a little help. It takes a village to raise a child, they say. Well, the same can be said about writing a book. As the author, you know the story and characters inside and out which makes it difficult sometimes to find plot holes or pacing issues. That's where I come in. Below is a listing of all the services I offer. Any service can be customized to fit your needs. Contact me directly with any questions.

My specialties are with: middle grade, young adult, new adult, romance and light sci-fi/fantasy.
I am not a good match for: picture books, erotica, non-fiction, epic sci-fi/fantasy, books with graphic rape scenes or animal cruelty.

Publishing consultation calls:
flat rate ~ $125.00

Do you have questions about the publishing industry, how it works, or what editors are looking for? Or are you stuck in a plot hole with your current novel and just need someone to talk it out with?  Do you want to know if the idea you have brewing has any potential in landing you an agent or publishing deal? Are you getting passes on your work and just don't know what all the feedback your getting really means?

I will help demystify all your questions about publishing. It's your time so we can use it however you like.

*We can get on the phone and chat it out for up to 30 minutes

Query Letter Creation:
flat rate ~ $250.00

Let's face it query letters are hard. Don't want to figure out how to write one yourself? No worries, let me do it for you. After a phone conversation (or an email if that is preferred where you answer some questions about your book), I will create for you a query letter for your project that you can take to try and find your perfect publishing match.

The "Am I Ready" Package:
flat rate ~ $175.00

Feeling unsure if your project is ready for submission? I will review all your submission materials (as stated above) and then I will read the first twenty-five pages of your manuscript. After which I will give you my assessment as to if your project is ready to go out on submission or if I foresee any issues. (And if I do see problems, I'll let you know how you should fix them.) There's nothing worse than submitting something before it is truly ready and then losing your chance at your choice agent.

The "Why Am I Getting Rejections" or "What Do These Rejections Mean" package:
flat rate ~ $200.00

Are you getting rejections and you just aren't sure what they mean? I will review all your rejections, plus your submission materials (as stated above, including the first twenty-five pages of the manuscript) to decipher what is really going on with your manuscript and why you aren't getting any asks, or why those asks are turning into rejections and not offers. I will also help come up with a plan on how to net you better results. Maybe you are pitching your story under the wrong age group/genre, maybe you're starting in the wrong place, maybe your murky middle is extra murky, whatever the reason, we will get to the bottom of it.  This package includes a 20-30 min phone conversation.

If you don't see the service you need, or you need a customized service, contact me.

If you are an author who needs accommodations with pricing also please let me know and we can potentially make some arrangements. Publishing shouldn't just be accessible for those who can afford it, so special arrangement can be made, or I'm open to bartering.

***Please note all prices are estimates. Rates can/will fluctuate based on complexity of the project and/or formatting issues. A two page sample can be requested before commitment is made for full manuscript critiques only, and a price will be given at that time for the full project. All payments are payable through PayPal.

***Purchase of editing services does NOT guarantee publication or page requests from The Tobias Literary Agency; purchasing an editing package acts as an agreement that the writer is prohibited from submitting the edited material to Ann Rose when querying The Tobias Literary Agency. The writer is free to submit to any other agent at The Tobias Literary Agency.

Testimonials:

Debbie G:
Ann's helped me out with a couple of manuscripts. She's creative, pays attention to details, and has a great sense of story. She's also quick and a great communicator. Ann helped me figure out what wasn't working in my manuscripts (and what was). And she's a genius with queries. I couldn't be more pleased with the help she's given me.

Kelly C:
A.M. Rose runs through a manuscript remarkably fast while still creating a detailed analysis of the work. She knows what is expected in the YA genre and gives great advice on keeping your audience happy while being true to your characters. If you're looking for an editor to take you to the next level, AM is the one for you.

Why Am I Getting Rejections client:
Of all the editors I've hired to help me with this manuscript, you have provided the best insight for what's not working and that's what I need to hear.

Pages Critique client:
If it wasn't for all your wonderful edits and critiques I wouldn't have been able to get the full requests I'm getting. Yesterday I got a full request from my absolute unicorn agent (redacted) and I just knew it wouldn't have happened without you.
